Public Use Sample

Public Use Sample
(PUS)
An anonymous sample of records from the decennial population census. In the United States, these have been made available to researchers from the 1960 Census onwards, at the 1 per cent and 0.1 per cent levels. Following practice in the United States, similar data-tapes have been released in Canada, and-since 1991-in Britain (where they are termed SAR , or Samples of Anonymised Records).
